LOCAL BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA LEADERS PRESENT THE PRESTIGIOUS SILVER BEAVER AWARD TO LOCAL CPA
Alan L. Olsen is singled out by the Boy Scouts of America for distinguished service to youth.
FREMONT, Calif., January 19, 2010 – Greenstein Rogoff Olsen & Co is pleased to announce that managing partner Alan, L. Olsen, will be a recipient of the 2009 Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service to youth from the Boy Scouts of America. The award ceremony will take place at a Council Recognition Dinner on January 23, 2010.
The recipients of this award are selected through a nomination process. They are registered adult leaders, who have made an impact on the lives of youth through outstanding service. Recipients implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. It is given to those who do not actively seek it.
This award follows the annual “Friends of Scouting” fundraising campaign. Through his help they were able to raise $1 million last year to support five districts and more than 300 packs, troops, teams, crews and at risk youth in San Francisco and Alameda counties.
Olsen said of scouting, “I can think of no other program that teaches young people much needed values than scouting. Not only do they learn the joy of service, but the learn leadership skills, self sufficiency, and personal responsibility. I am honored to receive the Silver Beaver Award.”
