GREENSTEIN ROGOFF OLSEN & CO HOLDS “MEET THE FIRM” EVENT FOR INTERNSHIP SEEKING STUDENTS
GROCO shares insights to recently developed internship program.
FREMONT, Calif., November 18, 2009 – While many companies are decreasing in size and struggling to stay afloat, Greenstein Rogoff Olsen & Co. is actively reaching out to potential new hires, including interns.
On Wednesday, November 11th, GROCO held a “Meet the Firm” event for college students in search of an internship. Attendees included students from San Jose State University, California State University, University of California, and as far away as Brigham Young University-Idaho and Boston University. Many students came from Fremont’s Ohlone College where two GROCO partners teach part-time.
GROCO’s Managing Partner, Alan Olsen, is an advocate of peer-to-peer learning and leadership development. Transforming from Employee to Entrepreneur is a concept that is taught at GROCO. He believes that an intern should be given assignments and tasks that stretch their minds and stimulates growth and deeper practical understanding.
Olsen stated of GROCO’s internship program, “We help our interns jump start their career by providing training in various aspects of tax and accounting work. Interns also participate in training classes, tax research projects and outside firm events. This gives them the real-work experience they need to help them begin their professional careers.”
Many colleges and universities are now requiring internships for students. Both interns and businesses benefit from participation in internship programs. Interns are able gain valuable work experience, have an edge in the job market, transition into a job and obtain many networking opportunities. At the same time, it allows businesses to maximize their resources through new talent, intelligence, and creativity while also experiencing a fresh perspective.
