ALAN AND SUSAN OLSEN GRANT FUND FOR BAY AREA STUDENTS
Alan and Susan Olsen establish BYU Idaho Grant Fund for economically disadvantaged students in the San Francisco
Bay Area
FREMONT, California, January 7, 2008 - Greenstein, Rogoff, Olsen
& Co. Managing Partner Alan L. Olsen announces the creation of a new grant fund
for economically disadvantaged Bay Area children.
All students deserve the opportunity for higher learning. Brigham Young University
Idaho provides many opportunities to students in need of financial aid through academic
and merit based scholarships. The Alan and Susan Olsen Grant-in-aid Fund assists
hard-working students who do not qualify for academic or other merit-based scholarships,
but are in need of financial assistance because of serious economic limitations.
The grant-in-aid fund will be administered by the BYU-I office of financial aid.
The fund provides grants to assist students with educational expenses while attending
BYU-I. All students applying to attend BYU-Idaho from the San Francisco Bay Area
will automatically be considered.
Brigham Young University Idaho is under the direction of President Kim Clark, former
dean of the Harvard School of Business. BYU-Idaho is the only University that has
a full license to use the learning models developed at Harvard University. Under
President Clark’s guidance, the new learning models for the school set into place
where students become teachers as well as learners in the learning process. This
new take on education is allowing students to become greater participants in the
classroom.
As students apply for and enroll at BYU-Idaho, they will become active participants
in the new learning model that the university has designed to improve the quality
of education.
What is it?
Alan and Susan Olsen have established a grant-in-aid fund at Brigham Young University
Idaho that will enable students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to have
the opportunity for higher education. The grant fund will cover the finances needed
for attending school. Students that are current BYU-Idaho scholarship recipients
can also receive grant funds to assist with housing and other cost of living expenses.
How do I qualify?
When students apply to Brigham Young University Idaho, they will automatically be
evaluated for the Alan and Susan Olsen Endowment Fund based on the following pre-requisites:
- Attending from San Francisco Bay Area
- Economically Disadvantaged Background
- Accounting Major
Students who meet the qualifications above will be given priority. For more information
