Mayor David W. Smith and Lieutenant Colonel Garrett Yee honored at event.
FREMONT, California, March 22, 2007 – The San Francisco Bay Area Council
of the Boy Scouts of America held its fourth annual Community Leadership Breakfast
this morning at the Anderson Auditorium at Washington Hospital in Fremont. Greenstein
Rogoff Olsen & Co. (GROCO) sponsors the event each year where the Boy Scout
organization honors two notable community leaders.

The honorable David W. Smith, mayor of Newark, was presented with the “Good Scout
Award” and Lieutenant Colonel Garrett Yee was presented with the “Scouter of the
Year Award.” Mayor Smith is currently serving his 14th consecutive term as Mayor
of the City of Newark and is the fourth most senior mayor serving in the United
States. Garrett Yee has been involved in scouting since a youth, attaining the rank
of Eagle Scout as a young man. In December, Colonel Yee, who is in the Army Reserves,
returned from a deployment in Iraq where he served with the Multi-National Corps—Iraq,
in Baghdad.
GROCO’s own Alan Olsen currently serves as District Chairman of the Mission Peak
District of the Boy Scouts and welcomed the attendees at the event and delivered
the Scout Legacy and closing remarks. “We are very proud of our association with
the Boys Scouts of America,” said Alan Olsen, Managing Partner at GROCO. “And we
are especially happy to honor two such deserving community leaders, both of whom
exemplify and support the Boy Scout values.”
