LOCAL CPA FIRM SUPPORTS BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
Greenstein Rogoff Olsen & Co. Sponsors Two San Francisco Bay Area Council Events
FREMONT, Calif., July 9, 2009 – Greenstein Rogoff Olsen & Co. sponsored two major Boy Scouts of America events, the 13th Annual Celebrity Golf Invitational Tournament and the Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner.
 The 13th Annual Celebrity Golf Invitational was held on June 22 at the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, CA, and included local celebrities, Oakland Raider legends and Randy Hahn of the San Jose Sharks. Net proceeds will allow the BSA Bay Area Council to employ qualified program coordinators and benefit at-risk youth by providing uniforms, building self-esteem and providing scholarships for inner-city young people to attend summer camp.
Every year, Eagle Scouts are recognized by the San Francisco Bay Area Council for their hard work, dedication and leadership in the community. This year, their achievements were celebrated with a special 2008-2009 Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner, sponsored by GROCO and held on June 30 at the Oakland Marriott City Center.
The recognition dinner had special meaning for Alan Olsen, managing partner of Greenstein Rogoff Olsen & Co., as his own son Eric was the Eagle Scout Representative for the class.
“GROCO really enjoys sponsoring Boy Scout events every year,” said Olsen. “It’s incredible seeing these young men learn life-long leadership skills at such a young age.”
This year’s Eagle Scout class was in honor of Ernest B. Hueter, retired president of the National Legal Center for the Public Interest in Washington, D.C. A World War II veteran, Hueter earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1935. Keynote speaker at the event was Chuck Smith, retired president of AT&T West. Smith became an Eagle Scout in 1959 and was a 2005 recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. He still contributes his leadership skills and success to the scouting program that helped him overcome dyslexia and shyness.
