About David Waitrovich
David Waitrovich began his wealth management career in 1982; he joined Merrill Lynch four years later. He leads the Waitrovich Group within the Private Banking and Investment Group at Merrill Lynch. David works exclusively with ultra-affluent clients, focusing on the services and strategies that reflect their particular needs: asset allocation, portfolio management, concentrated and restricted stock management, pre-and-post IPO planning, intergenerational wealth transfer, and private business sale.
David brings an unusual marriage of quantitative and qualitative ability in working with clients. He offers rigorous analytical experience in assessing client investments, cash flow needs, tax-minimization strategies, and intergenerational wealth transfer vehicles. He uses an endowment model in designing and delivering client offerings, recognizing the similar scale of opportunity across both entities. David’s effectiveness as a wealth advisor is amplified by his qualitative skill. He is particularly adept in helping families identify their real life goals so that these priorities impact and align with their long-term financial outlook. He is deeply committed to helping clients use their wealth to make a positive impact on their lives, their families, and the organizations and causes they feel strongly about.
Barron’s Magazine has named David one of the Top 1,000 Financial Advisors in America from the inception of the accolade in 2009 consecutively through 2012. David is a recognized leader within Merrill Lynch. He has served as an appointed representative to the Merrill Lynch Advisory Council to Management, a select group of financial advisors who apprise management of best practices in the field. He is also a designated International Private Wealth Advisor.
David earned his B.S. in Economics and Business Administration from St. Mary’s College and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from JFK University. He is a Certified Investment Management AnalystSM professional (CIMA®).
David is active in his community. He serves on the board of two private foundations, and is a member of the San Francisco Advisory Council and the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. He and his wife Maria live in Alamo, California, and have four children.
