Tax Supervisor
Position Summary
The candidate will supervise other professionals in completion of various tax projects. This position requires tax return preparation while demonstrating an intermediate level of expertise in one or more specialized areas of tax (e.g., individual taxation, closely held businesses, partnerships, international, or estate planning). Responsibilities include scheduling and assigning work, maintaining budgets and completing engagements on time and profitably. Supervisors demonstrate the ability to coordinate and administer tax services for significant clients and have experience in preparing tax protests. They prepare rulings for clients, memoranda in connection with requests for technical advice and write opinions on issues.
Responsibilities Include
- Prepare various types of tax returns (individuals, closely held businesses, partnerships, international, estate planning, etc.)
- Consult with clients solving sophisticated problems in all areas of taxation
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships with client personnel and prospective clients
- Supervise staff
- Prepare tax protests
- Conduct tax research
- Sell add-on services
- Perform tax provision reviews
- Teach/facilitate peer-to-peer learning
- Contribute to staff personnel development and retention programs
Qualifications / Requirements
- 5-7 years of tax experience
- CPA designation
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (Master's degree preferred)
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Exceptional written & verbal communication skills
- Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, peers, and other contacts
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to positively counsel less-experienced staff
